Baler is the capital of the province of Aurora, Philipines. Known as the surfing capital of Eastern Luzon, Baler's glamour is because of its many attractions and gorgeous beaches. When my family and I went there in 2015. I was amazed by its beauty. The locals were very kind and welcoming. It also had a various array of local products to boast of, like creative handicrafts, banana chips, kakanin and many others.

In Baler, the place we stayed in was Costa Pacifica Resort. It was rated was one of the best resorts in Baler. I really enjoyed our stay there because of the friendly and accommodating staff. In addition to this, the amenities were really nice. All of the rooms were comfortable. If you wanted a snack, there's a cafe and a bar inside the resort itself.

After we settled, we then visited the tourist attractions. The first place we went to was Diguisit Beach. This beach boasted many beautiful rock formations. It was the perfect spot for photo sessions, as our family really loves taking photos. It is also the perfect place for camping, but we didn't do that because we were already staying in a resort. However, I would like to try that next time. A good tip for those who want to come here would be to wear thick footwear, since the coral and rocks are very sharp.

Next, we climbed Ermita Hill. This is considered the highest point in Baler. It also overlooks the bay. "Tromba Marina," a shrine at the foot of the hill, commemorates the tragic tsunami that happened years ago. After walking up to get to the viewing deck, we saw the church and the tunnel. This tunnel was where the locals hid many years ago when Moro bandits raided Baler. I really loved going to Ermita Hill because it gave me a glimpse of history.

For me, the most memorable place we visited was the Balete Park. This park housed the Millenium Tree, which is a 65-meter Balete Tree which has stood for more than 600 years. This tree has been used as a background for various movies. You could go inside the intertwining roots, or just opt to take photos outside. The whole tour just cost us 10 pesos per head, so it's totally worth it!
When we went to Baler, we were not really able to visit a lot of places since there were kids with us and they got antsy easily. We just spent the rest of the time in the hotel pool or by the beach. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our stay. I'm very open to coming back and exploring more. I would really recommend this place to families and groups of friends. You will surely enjoy the numerous exciting activities and destinations Baler has to offer.
