Palawan
Philippines' Last Frontier
Palawan is an archipelagic province of the Philippines that was founded in 1818. Its capital city is Puerto Princesa. Residents are known to speak almost 10 languages with Hiligaynon as the main language. Found in this province are several tourist spots that are must to-go places. The three main places that tourists go to are Puerto Princesa, Coron, and El Nido. And I'm lucky to have been to two of those tourist places - Puerto Princesa and Coron.
Puerto Princesa
Trip Advisor
When we went island hopping, we wandered through the many islands of Puerto Princesa. And gosh, how beautiful the islands were. Each island was beauteous in their own way. Because of the stunning views and experiences, I didn't even feel any exhaustion from the whole day tour. I slept that night with unforgettable memories and a smile.
In this trip, I have experienced many adventures that I never thought I would do. I would consider myself as adventurous but at times fear gets to me. But in Puerto Princesa, I was able to go spelunking (cave exploring) and rock climbing. I satisfied my adventurous soul by ziplining which gave me the adrenaline rush I was seeking. Not only that, I also got to experience eating a worm and crocodile sisig. With the help of the people there that assured me that it was safe, I was capable of pushing myself to do these things. And ever since, I'd try new things with no uncertainty in every travel. If you seek for a trip of a lifetime like me, then mark Puerto Princesa as your next travel destination.
If you're more interested in relaxing rather than going on adventures, then Coron might be the dream destination you never thought you wanted. Coron has the majestic views that will please your eyes and salty seas that will make you want to take a dip. Lover of the sea? This tourist destination has numerous dive and snorkeling spots wherein you'll see different species of fishes and marine animals. I personally experienced exploring the place's crystal blue ocean.
I got the opportunity to tour the splendid islands of Coron that were surrounded by awe-inspiring rock formations. It's amazing how I kept jumping from one island to another and still get mesmerized by the beauty of each place. For every site that I snorkeled in, there was something new and unique. There was also a time that I went up 300 steps to reach the top of a hill. Yes, it was weakening but as I saw the view from the top, I knew it was all worth it.
After tiring days of touring, I'd lay down on the hammock at my hotel swinging with the breeze and listening to the waves crash as the sun sets. And that's when it occurs to me, I don't want to leave this place. Unfortunately, I had to. As my boat was leaving, I saw the hotel getting farther and farther. As my plane was ascending, I saw the islands getting smaller and smaller. And as I got home, I promised myself that one day I will go back. Coron, I'll see you again!
